Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated optional
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onion, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and ginger if using.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry and season with salt and pepper. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Spoon or brush the honey garlic glaze generously over each fillet, reserving a little for basting.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, basting with the remaining glaze halfway through, until the salmon is cooked through and the glaze is caramelized.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion. Serve immediately over rice or with roasted vegetables.

Notes

Honey can burn quickly — keep an eye on the glaze in the last few minutes and loosely cover with foil if it darkens too fast. To pan-sear instead, sear skin-side up 3 minutes, flip, add glaze, then finish in the oven 5–6 minutes. Use tamari in place of soy sauce to keep it gluten-free. Salmon is done at 145°F and flakes easily.
